  1. Another drawing completed. This is the usual one showing the floor levels beneath a mosaic that is not above a hypocaust and many of you will have seen something like this before.

    What I have added, in red, is the level on which you will find either etched lines (on the nucleus) or sinopia/painted lines (on the wet setting bed).

  2. If you go to Chedworth Roman villa and look on the floor in one of their learning rooms you will see they have a linoleum floor mat which has an image of one of the mosaic floors. A good idea for somewhere like that as the image is very clear and first you think they do have a mosaic there. This is the company that makes them, the four image in the top bar slideshow shows the Chedworth one.
