Geometric motifs from Roman mosaics. It fascinates me just how many different combinations they used. You see individual ones that are then expanded upon to create patterns to cover a complete floor as well. They can be grouped together or used in isolation.
The main thing that I have learnt from this work is to be able to separate the pattern from the underlying geometry. You don't even need to understand the geometry to create the pattern as a mosaic, you just need to be able to see the flow of the pattern.
