I wanted to do something different so this is an old terracotta jug that has been kicking around the workshop for a while. One of the handles had been broken off so I ground the broken piece down to get it as close to the surface as possible.
After figuring out the design and setting it out I just used some cement adhesive to stick the tesserae on. Left, you can see the jug upside down on a kitchen roll holder, this is so I can spin it around and do the base.
Below is the finish of the setting stage. It's been grouted and once dry I'll grind the surface smooth and the tesserae set around the rim will be rounded off.
